Autumn Has Arrived

The equal day and night, the angle of the light, cooler days and nights, shadows deep and colors bright, autumn has arrived.

Wildflower and Butterfly Votives

Nearly all votives are made from upcycled non-recyclable jars from pickled items, sauces and more. I etch the inside or outside on most of them, then print my artwork on a clear vinyl label and burnish it onto the flat area of the jar, embellishing the rest of the jar with alcohol inks in solids or patterns. All votives come with LED tea lights. Read more here.

Found Along the Panhandle Trail Cube Keepsake Boxes

This set of cube-shaped papier-mâché boxes range in size from 9″ x 9″ to 3″ x 3″. Each box has five images, one on the top and each side, and is trimmed in a complementary color.

Decorative Wooden Trays With Art and Wildflowers

These decorative trays are 10 x 14 and 8 x 12, made of lightweight unfinished wood and feature a favorite painting and photos of scenes along the trail.

Wildflowers and Butterflies of the Panhandle Trail Pendants

The cabochon pendants I’d made for my Seasons of the Panhandle Trail exhibit sold so well the first day that I made another set the next morning! Sunflowers and sweet peas, daisies and St. John’s Wort, and butterflies.

The Light in the Darkness
Never forget that when the light seems dim there is much to be seen with the heart, and when adversity has taken away the quick and obvious beauty, the strongest parts remain, dignified in their naked and twisted strength. More…

I Chased a Sunset

Dramatic Light

When I saw the snow that morning, just an inch or two carefully blanketing each branch and twig in the tree outside my window I knew what my destiny would be if the snow stopped and the sun came out.

It did, and I headed for the Panhandle Trail, on foot just planning about an hour of photos in the first half mile of the trail. Mission accomplished.

Seasonal Stories

Short Story: Foretold
The morning’s brilliant sunshine belied the cool air, but the bumblebee, sluggish at breakfast on the spent seed head, foretold the change to come. The season had been awaiting the moment and the moment was here, and even as the day warmed and the bees efficiently bumbled on their way, grand and beautiful clouds appeared on the horizon,… Read more…

Poem: Effortless

I paddled the canoe around the bend,
and was faced with the effortless beauty of the panorama,
the trees in all their colors, the sky with changing clouds,
the water moving and reflecting simultaneously,
all perfectly arranged,
I realized that my creations are but raindrops in a puddle,
wisps of cloud that change and dissipate…
