It’s been a little difficult to keep up with posting daily paintings but I am actually working on some artwork each day, including commissions and gifts, which I can’t post right away, and ongoing portraits, which don’t get done in a day. But as the month goes on I can post some of those commissioned pieces I worked on earlier.
This is a book cover illustration. I did the layout a few weeks ago, pulling together photographs to show the customer what I thought it could look like, then I painted it in pastel. For the base of the image I used photos from a friend’s farm I visited in June this year. The cat is part of each story in a series and is physically modeled on a real cat. The torn red and black fabric is a clue. It was great fun to paint! In a few weeks the book will be available and then I’ll tell more the book and about how I put it together.
