I didn’t intend to make a set of these two, but that’s what happened! Together they make a nice accent for someone who loves butterflies and wants more of them in their home. This would also make a nice gift set too!

Butterflies Votive

I etched the inside of the jar to better diffuse the light from the candle, then printed the design on a purchased clear vinyl label and burnished it onto the vase. The curved glass areas are painted with forest green permanent alcohol ink. The art can be clearly seen on the matte finish label even when the votive isn’t lit.

It’s made from a repurposed pickle jar 6″ tall x 5″ wide and comes with an LED tea light, but that’s big enough for a shorter or smaller LED pillar candle to use as a little accent lamp.

Use for storage for small items, photos or special keepsakes, or use as gift boxes.

I choose a theme for each box and from that choose the five images and a color that coordinates with the artwork to paint the trim. I then print my artwork on acid-free matte-finish paper with archival waterproof inks and adhere the print to the lid and sides. Box insides are unfinished.
