As soon as I saw brightly-colored gift bags for spring and summer I knew I had to get right to my latest idea: gift bags with flowers! Just like my picturing my feline art on gift bags, I have so many paintings and photos that I’ve always pictured on gift bags too. Time for my color palette to change from cool winter blues and violets of snow and frost to warm spring and summer pinks and yellows and apple green. I had paintings and photos in mind and also spent time sorting through years of images and put them together with the right color bag, and here we are.
I currently create these bags with medium-size commercial gift bags I find in craft stores, discount stores, the grocery store…anywhere I find a color I don’t have I pick up a few. I match the art or photo to it, print it out on a commercial-grade label and adhere it to the front of the bag. The commercial grade labels are waterproof, and when the manufacturer said the adhesive was “aggressive” they weren’t exaggerating. I put them through some materials testing, even running one under water and the bag fell apart but the label stayed on it, as clear as ever.
Gift bags cost:
- $4.00 each
- $10.00 for 3
- $20.00 for 6
Price includes first-class shipping. The bags are listed individually in Handmade Gift Items, each bag with its own photo so you can see the details and color more clearly.
A bright sunny morning is a great opportunity for photography and the steps to my deck are a great display, but first there were intermittent gusts, and you can imagine what they did to all these lightweight bags, and then the shadows from the trees behind me moved across the whole scene. I photographed each bag in a good sunny spot.
Nature and Wildlife Sampler Box
One or two of these bags will also be part of the content of my quarterly Nature and Wildlife Sampler Box, which also includes a matted print and an unmatted print of a different style and medium, nature and wildlife greeting and note cards and one or two handmade gift items. You can sign up for a single sampler box or a subscription of three.
These bags are unique and I only have one of each. In part, I’m using this to determine the popularity of the images and of bag colors, and then I can narrow down my efforts to what you like. But if, as with my feline gift bags, preference is all over the board, then I’ll just keep grabbing bags and putting images on them. Feel free to give feedback!
