It’s Black Friday, or Black Cat Friday around here with eight housepanthers in attendance. I’ll be having a social lunch with a customer who is in to visit family, and other than that we may be enjoying some of the perfect sunshine today.
Perhaps I should be working harder for sales on this day of all selling, but my experience has taught me that I can’t compete on this day. I don’t have special sales because I decided to keep my prices as low as they can be for every day sales with an occasional discount to help bring attention to a newly designed and created product. I’m not going to grab anyone’s attention from all the ads and commercials and promotions with my small shop so it’s almost like a day off.
But “small shop” is the important part. I purchase many of my materials from other small local shops or from distributors who are small family-owned businesses because they give me the best service when I have questions about products or special ordering circumstances, from pastels to easels to custom picture framing to enamel paints. I have my cards and prints made at small family-owned shops for the same reason. When you purchase something from me you are supporting all of those other people as well as me and my cats.
I am very thankful that I can run my business in this way, and pass all the savings and benefits on to you.
So take your time and browse, and shop in the middle of the night if you’d like. I’ll be happy to answer any questions.
PS: The photo at the top, “The Eye Model” is available on a small round keepsake.
