Arranging my display of votives here I kept looking at four with autumn wildflowers that I felt needed a little extra something. I pictured some burlap ribbon in autumn colors, some flower and leaf-shapd buttons and novelties and then some raffia too, and went to town with decorations.

I decorated the top edge of them with burlap ribbon and wooden sunflower buttons and metal leaf beads, then added some raffia to give it a look from nature. For that reason I’d advise that you always use an LED votive to prevent unexpected fires.

Nearly all votives are made from upcycled non-recyclable jars from pickled items, sauces and more. I etch the inside or outside on most of them, then print my artwork on a clear vinyl label and burnish it onto the flag area of the jar, embellishing the rest of the jar with alcohol inks in solids or patterns. All votives come with LED tea lights; theycan be used with regular candles but the label area can’t be soaked in water to clean them.
