Roots
I love bare trees. I have always been fascinated by the exposed roots of trees, especially older trees who have stood many tests of storms and floods. Now, in November, with leaves mostly fallen, the woods are full of the tangled interest of bare trees and tree roots.
I purchased a few bags of mixed cabachon frames and glass, and many were quite decorative. Two of the frames had trees etched onto the back of the frame, and I decided to use my photo “Find Your Roots” in those two, a large and a small version, so you have your roots on the front of the cabochon and a Tree of Life on the back. Also new with my cabochons, I had purchased a large bag of silver and gold beads in various designs because I’d wanted to dress up some of my cabochons, and so I did, as you see above, and also added cotton and hemp cords.

I make a high-quality print of my image, whether photo or painting, trim it to fit the cabochon and frame and adhere it all together, then choose a cord or chain that coordinates with it. I like to vary the shapes from plain circles to squares and rectangles in a variety of metal finishes as well as plates with decorative frames. Now that I’ve added beads, it’s really hard to stop once I get going with these.
