My tent set up for my exhibit and ready for customers.

My third annual Sun Shadow Ice & Snow exhibit August 26 and 27 featuring images inspired by the Panhandle Trail was hot and sticky, but fun and successful. Each year I have more art and photos and meet more people who love the trail.

I have four new paintings to share below, and all art featured in the exhibit is listed in the left column. For the next three weeks, until my next regular newsletter on the autumnal equinox, all Panhandle Trail artwork, originals and prints, is 25% off with code PANHANDLE2016 on Portraits of Animals.

Paths I Have Walked
Paths I Have Walked
22” x 28”, pastel, $650

This painting was the featured art for 2016: Sun Shadow Ice & Snow, Seasons on the Panhandle Trail and depicts me walking through a favorite section of the woods along the trail where the sycamores and maples grow straight up toward the sky from the flood plain and it feels like a green cathedral. Running Through the Woods

16” x 22”, pastel, $500

It’s another one I’d been wanting to paint, a day in the woods and on the trail with my great-niece Cassidy and great-nephew Kyler from 2011, from the same visit where I got the reference photos for “The Swimming Hole” and the photo “Looking Forward”. Sycamore Moon

Sycamore Moon
12” x 18”, pastel, $150

There are two large sycamore trees near the entrance of the trail, but because they are growing against a hill I don’t see them from this angle against the sky until I am headed back home, nearly at the trailhead, and often at dusk, especially the early dusk of a winter night. Read more…

Bright Autumn

14” x 20”, pastel, $300

Autumn along the trail is overwhelming with all the colors in the mix of trees and brush in the woods and on the hills. I took this photo years ago because it was so rich in detail, sun and the sun illuminating the leaves on the left, colorful shadows, a road running through it and wanting to walk on. Read more…
