NOTE: The original scan I posted wasn’t accurate, too contrasty and colors were not accurate, so I photographed it the next day and replaced the image.

This was painted from a photo I took in August 2015. I’ve always wanted to do a simple little painting of it: my colorful dresses and skirts moving gently in the breeze, the bricks in the patio outside my basement door, the bright sun and shadows, Mimi relaxing on the concrete step in the shade of the laundry. Just a nice memory of a simple summer morning.

I painted this in watercolors on my 6 x 9 pad of 140 lb. watercolor paper. I enjoy painting on that little watercolor pad, the perfect weight, texture and size, and I’m so glad I found it. just working with it makes me more confident.

I’m not sure what’s up with my scanner, though. It’s usually right on the mark when I scan any of my artwork, but lately I’ve had to do so many adjustments, and even photograph my art to get the colors right. I may end up getting a new scanner and rescanning them, but likely anyone else would have to study the painting to see what might be “off” about it.
