Cats expecting a good show.

Back to the Drawing Board, or is that Archaic?

Cats expecting a good show.

Cats expecting a good show.

My cats were expecting a good DIY craft show but were disappointed, and you can see that Giuseppe is not happy.

Neither am I. “Back to the drawing board” was a phrase we used to use when things were largely designed on paper on a literal drawing board, though now it’s largely computerized. Making things by hand is still making things by hand, and there is no “undo” button, but I’ll take the challenge.

The craft project I’d planned to work out this weekend just did not work out, at least not yet. Most of the time I study and read others’ projects, I know my materials and procedures and have the right items on hand, and when I set up to do something new it works out fine. My first try may not be perfect, I may need to adjust one thing or another in order to get there, but usually when I set out to make something new you see it here pretty much right away.

Because I was pretty confident about this one I had planned my weekend posts to feature the new products. On top of that it’s a technique I can use to create many different items, so I am out the whole scheme of things that would come from it. I adjusted and tried to get things to work, but I’ll have to go out and get different materials for the next try.

Well, it’s Monday, and I’m a little disappointed, but it’s not the end of the world. A whole weekend I’d set aside largely for working this out and making the first set of new products and I have nothing to show for it. Well, that happens now and then. I hate to lose momentum, but I have plenty of other things to make in the meantime. I know I’ll get it to work out so I’m not saying what it is right now, but it’s got to do with polymer clay.

In the meantime there are some keepsake boxes that need to be decorated and signs that need to be painted!
