Feline and Flower Votives in Summery Colors

This time I worked out a few different designs and styles with smaller jars than last time, and all in summery colors. All are etched on the inside with the design adhered on the outside and also have embellishments painted on the outside too, but this time I tried out frosted clear labels instead of glossy clear labels. I can see that each label works better with different designs, but with the frosted label you can see more detail in some of the designs when the candle isn’t lit. I’m so glad they had these at the closeout sale at my favorite craft supply store or I never would have tried them.

Since we’re not recycling glass anymore I can use those glass jars from condiments and pickles and such for votives, but to be perfectly honest I’d had this idea for so long that I started saving them several years ago, and always did save interesting jars, often using them in the kitchen to store things like beans and pasta. I have no shortage of jars, and each one offers a new opportunity.

I etch them inside or out to diffuse the light from the candle and have either a vinyl label I’ve printed or hand-painting on the outside. Because I’m largely using recycled jars each one is unique and I enjoy fitting the art or image to the shape and size of the jar. To some of them I add an extra finish with alcohol inks in areas where a label won’t cover easily.

All the smaller ones are $15 each including shipping (or $10 if you’re local and can pick up) and include an LED candle.

A Special Discount

All the smaller ones are $15 each including shipping (or $10 if you’re local and can pick up) and include an LED candle. Price includes shipping.

You can also purchase two votives for $25.00 if you’re shopping online, a savings of $5.00. I incorporate $5.00 shipping into each item’s price, but the cost of shipping two is the same as shipping one. Use the coupon code 2VOTIVES25 in your shopping cart for the discount.

Below is a gallery of the new ones. Browse them for the ones you like, then go to my gallery of Votives in my Handmade Gifts Gallery.

And in many cases you can also find other products with the same design: a card, tote, print, keepsake, for instance, which makes for a nice gift set.
