In Afternoon Sun Cabochon Pendant
We are looking forward to sunnier days. Mewsette and Mimi enjoyed the sun on the studio windowsill in June 2012, one of my favorite daily sketches combining ink brush pen to capture the deep shadows and bright highlights on the girls and watercolor spatters to capture the sun in the leaves of the maple tree outside. Inspired by Japanese brush pen art I modeled my girls in that style. Click on the image below to read more about it.

The sketch is a wonderful subject for many gift items, including the cabochon above, and the keepsake box below. As a gift for someone who loves housepanthers you can purchase both and use the keepsake as a gift box, and get them both at a discount when purchased together.
In Afternoon Light Keepsake Box
The pendant is made with a print of that sketch “In Afternoon Sun”, inside a square brass frame and a 1″ x 1″ beveled glass cabochon cover. It comes with an 18″ black flocked cord. Because I purchase a quantity of cabochons and sometimes repurpose old jewelry to make them, each cabochon is unique and I only have one in each design. (NOTE: This pendant has been purchased, and I do have other 1″ square cabochons but they are not brass. I may use silver, copper or gold instead.)
The papier-mâché box is hand-painted in green with black trim, with a print of “In Afternoon Sun” adhered to the lid. Lid and bottom are finished with a light coat of matte-finish varnish. Insides are unfinished. Box measures 4″ x 4″ x 3″ high.
