North Hills Art Center Members’ Exhibit Submissions

exhibit entries

Entries for the annual member’s exhibit.

It’s been a busy week for my artwork! Along with working on a couple of commissioned works and getting ready for Rock the Quarry and Seasons on the Panhandle Trail, I dropped off submissions to the North Hills Art Center annual members’ exhibit to benefit the nonprofit West View Hub which offers a variety of resources to the community.

I saw the exhibit announcement and for some reason thought I didn’t have anything to enter! I completely forgot about these three paintings, even though one is sold and one was a commission. This show has no theme, so it’s “artist’s choice.” I can still enter them and I’m very proud to show a variety of styles and media.

I just realized I’ve only shared one of these prior to now! That would be “Blue and Yellow” depicting the forsythia with my Blue Willow dishes.

The larger painting at the top is titled “Slava Ukraini”. I thought I had written about it when I had my solo show in June, but I was probably pretty preoccupied with Mr. Sunshine’s condition and imminent surgery. I know that I had a difficult time getting an accurate image between the blue sky and the shades of yellow and tan, and I’m still not sure it’s right. Here is the full image, below, and I promise I’ll write more about it soon!

Around Easter I shared a commissioned work that’s part of a set of 20 small paintings for a friend depicting the mysteries of the rosary, the life and times of Jesus and his mother Mary, and some of her favorite Bible verses, in a loose and colorful style. She had pointed out a few of my watercolors, so that’s what I’ve used. Here is the illustration for “whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me,” Matthew 25:40.

The opening for this exhibit is in two weeks and I won’t be able to make this one. But I’m happy to enter and share with other artist!
