I am so happy for this little painting, that it finally got to go home with someone. I painted it in 2013, en plein air, and decided to modify a frame to match it. Many people have looked at it, but until now no one even considered it.

Once the weather turns warm and sunny the world begins coloring up nicely, and so it did one April afternoon in 2013. I decided to take some time to paint the clouds, literally and figuratively, standing out in my back yard with my pastels for about ten minutes—and by that time the skies were completely different. I loved the original sketch as soon as it was done.

Then I decided I wanted a white frame and painted the salvaged frame, above. But I wanted to do something a little special for the painting, so I sponged on paint colors that were in the painting, then a layer of white with a crackle glaze. It was perfect, just the right touch of texture and color in the frame.

This is in Sennelier pastel on Wallis sanded pastel paper.

The sales this year freed up space in my home and my heart to create more paintings. And here’s to more in the coming year!
