The design is adapted from my marker sketch “Fun Things Bella Does With her Tail” from 2014, stenciled in black porch and floor acrylic enamel paint on a 24″ x 16″ premade coir doormat.
I purchase the 24″ x 16″ premade coir doormat at IKEA and stencil the silhouette onto the mat.
About the artwork
This design began as a marker sketch of my actual black cat having a sketch in the kitchen, along with two other activities that easily lent themselves to a set of sketches called “Fun Things Bella Does With Her Tail”. My series of daily sketches over three years were done from life to capture their activity as it happened, knowing I’d use them later for purposes like this.
I trimmed out a stencil from a sheet of thin plexiglass, and after testing a number of durable paints I chose to use a quality porch and floor enamel that I’ve actually used on my porches and my floors so the design would last.
Bella approves!
