This 4” round coaster is made from white polymer clay and stamped with my brush pen sketch “Three Cats Looking”, painted violet then given a wash of white.
Because they are handmade and shaping, stamping and drying changes their dimensions, they are not uniform in size, shape or thickness, but that makes each one unique.
NOTES ON USE:
- These are not safe for use with food.
- These cannot be used as a hot pad for items taken out of the oven or microwave or off the stove, any item which has been heated by cooking—the polymer will soften from the heat.
- These work great as a coaster for items filled with hot food or liquids, like mugs of coffee or tea or dishes filled with cooked food. There is not enough heat transferred to affect the polymer.
The coaster is 4″ white polymer clay with “Three Cats Looking” stamped and impressed into the clay. It’s then painted with violet paint and given a wash of white to enhance the dimension of the sketch.
I love this little brush pen sketch and I’ve always wanted to do something with it, so I had a stamp made to play with. I may paint one or two of these too, and some other ideas include a square or rectangular dish. I really, really want to do something with the tail to let it hang off an edge or something, but I’m just not sure the polymer clay will stand up to a beating with a tail that thin.
And just to prove that my designs are “inspired by cats you know”, here is the photo I took when I sketched the three of them. You can read about the designs in my original post for this daily sketch.
