About the artwork

I think of things in cards in sets of four, and while I have many other watercolors these four feline paintings are a subject on an open background, more abstract and experimental. And though each of them was painted in and expresses a different season, for me the loose transparency of watercolors always feels summery.

These particular paintings were experiments for me, focused on the image and not the scene, as I usually choose in a more formal painting, and it makes the image interesting for a note card rather than a larger and more formal greeting card. Here the image is without geometric boundaries and can be sized in any way it fits on a card or other background. That makes each image versatile in conveying your message: friendship, thinking of you, sympathy, invitation, and more.

While we often use electronic communications for quick notes, that makes a card received in the mail all the more dear to the recipient.

The note cards can also be trimmed and incorporated into scrapbooking or collages, or even framed for your wall.

Each of the paintings comes from my collection of Daily Sketches, a three-year period during which I painted my cats nearly every day in a huge variety of media, just a quick sketch, no masterpieces, finding the inspiration and capturing the moment. This gave me a huge body of work to choose from for note cards and more.
