Typically my votives have just the design and some painted embellishments, but looking at my display of wildflower votives I felt the warm yellow wildflowers needed a little extra something. I pictured some burlap ribbon in autumn colors, some flower and leaf-shaped buttons and novelties and then some raffia too, and went to town with decorations.

“Dancing Woodland Sunflowers” is one of those votives. I decorated the top edge with a wrap of burlap ribbon, some twists of raffia tied in a bow to give it a look from nature, and a wooden sunflower button to top it off. (For all those flammable reasons I’d advise that you always use an LED votive to prevent unexpected fires.)

This votive is made from an upcycled and recently non-recyclable jar from pickles. I etch the inside, then print my artwork on a frosted vinyl label and burnish it onto the flat area of the jar, embellishing the rest of the jar with alcohol inks in solids or patterns. All votives come with LED tea lights.
